The National Road Safety Campaign 2025 was successfully conducted from January 1st to January 31st, 2025, under the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This initiative focused on building the capacity of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) members in Satara and Ahmednagar districts of Maharashtra. The training was organized jointly by the Transport Commissioner's Office, Mumbai, and Parisar, Pune.
The "Safe System Approach" was central to the training, with a focus on reducing road crashes, injuries, and fatalities. These two districts were selected based on their high accident rates and fatalities as outlined in the Maharashtra Road Crash Data 2022 report.
Key Highlights:
- Poll Activity: Members’ knowledge was assessed on topics like helmet and seatbelt use, speed limits, and drink-driving laws.
- Training Focus: The Safe System Approach, Haddon Matrix, and enforcement of key safety measures like helmets, seat belts, and speed limits.
- Guest Insights: Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister, highlighted India’s goal to reduce road fatalities by 50% by 2030.
Outcome of Training:
- 72 DRSC members from Satara and Ahmednagar participated in the training.
