Sushil Pathare

City Road Safety Coordinator

Before entering the road safety and advocacy space, I worked in the education sector with a strong interest in teacher capacity building and government liaison work. My work was driven by a curiosity about how systems influence people’s everyday lives and how awareness, participation and leadership contribute to long-term social change.

A turning point came through closely observing roads and public spaces, particularly the daily risks faced by vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, children and non-motorised transport communities. This led to a deeper understanding that road safety is not only about traffic management, but also about policy, behaviour, equity and governance.

Currently associated with Parisar, my work focuses on advocacy, stakeholder engagement and strengthening dialogue between communities, government departments and policymakers. I am especially interested in making road safety policies more inclusive and ensuring that local communities can participate meaningfully in shaping safer and more accessible streets.

I remain committed to empowering all segments of society through inclusive participation and community engagement.
