From Rule Breaker to Road Safety Advocate
Before joining Parisar, I worked on child rights, women’s rights and livelihoods. Road safety was never something I thought deeply about until I met with a serious road accident that affected my mobility, confidence and work life. During recovery, I realised how unsafe behaviour, poor road design and lack of accountability can turn a simple crash into a long-term life-changing experience.
While rebuilding my confidence, I came across the role of Road Safety Coordinator at Parisar. Preparing for the interview introduced me to the Motor Vehicles Act, IRC guidelines, safe speed principles and helmet safety, which completely changed my perspective on roads and mobility. Working with students often reminds me of my younger self someone who enjoyed speed, ignored rules and rarely thought about consequences. But conversations with young people who share similar experiences continue to reinforce why this work matters.
Today, I work on road safety awareness, youth engagement and helmet advocacy initiatives at Parisar. I believe roads should be inclusive, empathetic and safe for everyone, and that small conversations and awareness efforts can gradually create meaningful behavioural change.
Areas of work: Road safety, youth engagement and behaviour change communication.
When not working: Usually found cooking, watching films, capturing something or having long conversations over chai.
