Advancing Road Safety: Parisar at the 2025 Asia Pacific Regional Conference

In September 2025, Aditya Chawande represented Parisar at the Asia Pacific Regional Road Safety Conference held in Manila, Philippines. Organized by the Road Safety Network — comprising the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO), and the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) — the event served as a critical platform for stakeholders to collaborate on urgent road safety solutions.

Engaging with Global Perspectives

The conference offered a unique opportunity to engage with international road safety experts, government officials, and fellow NGOs. The agenda was packed with high-level discussions, including ministerial panels that focused on the urgent need for robust policy frameworks and effective enforcement strategies.

A significant focus of the event was the exploration of financing tools and strategies designed to accelerate safety initiatives. These sessions provided actionable insights into how organizations can better fund and scale road safety projects across the Asia Pacific region.

Parisar’s Contribution: Infrastructure and Road Design

A highlight of the conference was Parisar’s presentation on addressing road safety challenges through infrastructure and road design. This session was conducted alongside GRSP partners from India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and China.

This collaborative format allowed for:

  • Cross-Learning: Sharing diverse perspectives on how different nations tackle unique road safety challenges.

  • Technical Exchange: Discussing evidence-based design solutions that prioritize vulnerable road users.

  • Global Networking: Building a stronger coalition of advocates committed to lowering road fatalities across the region.

The exchange of ideas during this session was invaluable, reinforcing the importance of localized infrastructure solutions that align with global safety standards. We look forward to applying these lessons to our ongoing advocacy and efforts in India.
